A quick-shifting seven-speed automatic transmission makes the experience all the more pleasurable. Compared to previous generations, the SLK feels more composed on the road. Less harshness over bumps and improved stability in tight turns have improved the ride. You'll find that the steering is precise but somewhat heavy, requiring authoritative input from the driver.
