Exceptionally clean 1988 BMW M5 with only 90,880 miles. Finished in Black with tan leather interior. The 1988 BMW M5 (E28) is a legend in BMW's Motorsports history. Known as the unassuming (Stealth) high performance sedan. Originally BMW was only going to produce about 500 M5's for the North American market, but with a very strong customer demand a total of 1,370 were built for U.S. market. Many of these M5s where driven daily on the street with some cars having over 300,000 miles. A true testament of the owners passion and the vehicles capabilities. This car is a great example, and that is ready to be enjoyed. MECHANICALS: The stock M series 3.5L (S38) 256 hp (SAE) engine, which is an evolution of the 24-valve inline-six developed for BMW's mid-engine M1 supercar. The transmission is the smooth shifting manual 5-speed. Mechanically this car is strong, with a well documented service history. Upgraded M5 Ulimate Exhaust cat back system. The suspension and brakes have also received some upgrades. Replaced factory self-leveling system with Bilstein shock, upgraded springs/strut setup. Upgraded sway bars. Brembo big brake kit for the fronts and larger stock BMW for the rear. EXTERIOR: The beautiful black paint is in excellent condition. The paint has a deep and lustrous finish. Overall the paint and body are in excellent condition, with only light superficial paint chips or marks. The lower underside of the front spoiler has some light curb marks. The glass is in great condition. The wheels are BMW (Style 21) 17 inch. The Michelin tires are in like new condition. INTERIOR: The interior is very clean. The interior does show some typical wear and age. The dash is in near perfect condition. All instruments are in working order. A/C does work. Power switches and seat controls work. Factory heated seats. Newer Alpine sound system. DRIVING: The driving experience of this M5 is exciting and entertaining. The M5 begs to be driven. The M5 is a very unassuming car to some people, but it has the power, the speed and the handling that very few cars had back in 1988. To compare, the M5's performance in the late 80's was on the same level as Porsche, Ferrari, and other premium sports cars. This car cruises with very little effort, and it is very comfortable to be driven on a daily basis. The brakes are monstrous and solid, and the road handling in a blast.
